accident or incident? 

An ‘accident’ is a mishap that is not intentional.
He’s having an accident on his bike.

An ‘accident’ is also something that just happens by chance or unexpectedly.
It’s only an accident that I was there at the same time as you.


‘Incident’ refers to something that happens. Often a disturbance is called an incident.
There was another incident last night with the neighbours arguing and shouting.
